Buy our Ecological Winter Collection '21 UKMEAUUS Why, when " Transition Your Swaddling Baby If you read my last article about it, you'll know that a great way to help your baby sleep is to start changing the first day. So why would you change your baby from an exchange when you and Bub have a good sleep routine? For many parents (including myself) this is a terrifying idea! A question I receive all the time is when is the best time for transition? So let's talk through this. And once you find out why and when, I'll explain how you do it too. Having gone through the experience of my second son Polly, as well as having taught thousands of parents in my prenatal classes how to prepare for birth (and beyond), I have learned many great techniques on how to achieve the successful transition of your baby out of your waist, and I am excited to share them with you. Why should I change my baby from your hoodie? Generally speaking, between 3 to 6 months of age, your baby will develop enough muscle strength to stir. For some babies it may be as early as 8 weeks but for some, much later. This is just a spectre and you should always consult your doctor to advise on the unique development of your bub. The number one reason you need to change your baby is for her safety. If your baby swirls over your stomach while interchanged, they may find it difficult to roll over your back. Not only is this uncomfortable and distressing for your búb, but there are also serious risks involved; including restricting your breathing. When you notice that your baby shows signs of starting to roll, of which I speak a little further down, it is better to start the transition away from switching to sleep "without weapons" to avoid those risks completely. It can be discouraging at first, but this is an exciting milestone for both parents and the búb alike, and an important step in their motor development, allowing their little one to continue building strength in their arms, neck and back. As parents, we want to encourage the motor development of our baby – any chance to move your arms by-catch (e.g. when you are lying in your crib right after you wake up or the moments just before you fall asleep), are great, and we really want to see more of this. So, now you understand why it's important, let's talk about the next question I hear all the time, and that's WHEN? When did I get my baby out of the gun-free sleep exchange? The signs I ask the parents to look for are: If your baby is showing one or more of these signs, then it is time for the transition to "weaponsfree" completely. Again, it is important to note that for some babies it may occur as early as 8 weeks while for other babies, this happens much later. How can I change my baby? First – don't worry if you're not finding this easy; anything that disrupts the baby's dream can be stressful for all parents. Personally, I was very concerned when the time of the Polly transition came out of your Swaddle UpTM! There are products that can make your baby's transition to gun-free sleep much easier, but usually speaking, there are some tips that you should follow, no matter what transition product you are using: Some babies will go to the gun-free dream easier than others. If your little boy is taking a little longer, or you are not experiencing the smooth transition he had expected - don't worry! Stay with him and your homeless man will be there. Learn more about why, when and how to get your baby through can be found in the previous video - like Hana Krawchuk (Love To DreamTMfounder) and we will provide you with more detailed and useful answers to the above questions.
